FIRE ALARM MONITORING

CANASA

To All Alarm Monitoring Company Members:

Two years ago, the Ontario Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council introduced the World's Largest School Fire Drill held on October 12, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Over 1900 Ontario schools evacuated over 1 Million children as part of a major 2005 Fire Prevention Week Campaign.

Response from schools and fire departments was overwhelming and a request to make the World's Largest School Fire Drill an annual event has been approved by the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council.

At the request of the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council and in the interest of recognizing the impact such an event may have on alarm monitoring companies, CANASA has joined the "World's Largest Fire Drill Committee". Working with the Committee we have expanded the time frame for the October 11th, 2007 fire drill to be between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Hence, with input from CANASA, we have created a fire drill day versus a fire drill moment. This will significantly reduce the impact on monitoring alarm companies during this important event.

We are confident that this year's event will be even more successful than 2006, and we are asking for your support in working with your local fire departments and schools in making this educational event an "ALARMING" success.

Please read the Fire Drill Guidelines to find out what your school should be doing to prepare for the drill.
