Fire Safety Awards

Awards Honour Exceptional Contributions to Fire Safety

What's been happening in your local community? Who has been doing an outstanding job showcasing fire safety messages or making great gains in the community? Show your appreciation and pride for all that has happened or happening by submitting a nomination. Applications will be sent to all fire departments in March.

The awards recognize individuals or organizations that have made outstanding contributions in the areas of fire prevention and public education. Each year, a selection committee chooses the recipients from among all the nominations received from Ontario fire departments. The Fire Safety Awards fall into the following four categories: Individual, Organization, Media and Fire Safety Action. In addition, the Fire Marshal's Award for Fire Safety Excellence is awarded annually to those individuals or groups who have made exceptional contributions to promote fire safety and public education in Ontario.

The dedicated efforts and exemplary actions of the recipients honoured with these awards take the Council a step closer to reaching the goal of reducing fire deaths and burn injuries through fire prevention and public education.

2008 Fire Safety Awards

The Office of the Fire Marshal and the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council are pleased to announce that the 2008 Fire Safety Awards will be presented at a luncheon ceremony on June 25, 2008. This is your chance to nominate those dedicated individuals and organizations in your community that deserve to be recognized for their outstanding contributions to fire safety.

Public education programs and initiatives are making a difference. In the hope of continuing to reduce fire losses in Ontario, we must continue our focus and commitment to fire and education programs in all of our communities across the province. To promote this, it is vital to recognize the special people in your community who have contributed to the success of local fire safety education and prevention efforts.

You now have until April 30, 2008 to nominate individuals or organizations for the following awards:

Fire Safety Action Award
Eligible nominees are children aged 16 and under who have demonstrated fire safety knowledge by taking appropriate action to prevent or mitigate a potentially hostile fire situation.
