36497 Command and Control
By Burton Phelps and Robert Murgallis This book covers incident scene decision making in depth; provides techniques to enhance a firefighter’s ability to make rapid, correct decisions based on knowledge of various types of occupancies; and addresses the development of strategy and tactics and the size-up process. This book presents the Incident Command System (ICS) from the perspective of day-to-day application. While branch operations, complex command, and area command are discussed in the book, the ICS presented in this book principally addresses those functions needed to handle the majority of incidents to which firefighters respond. Specific information common to types or groups of occupancies is presented with examples, and reader activities are included in each chapter. Occupancy specific cues, cue-based decision making, incident management cues, and strategy and tactics are provided for each occupancy type covered in the text. 1st Edition (2001) Fire Protection Publications 263 pp.

36500 Technical Rescue for Structural Collapse North American version 1st Edition (2003)
Author/Publisher: IFSTA ISBN 10: 0-87939-225-8 Structural collapse can occur in any jurisdiction at any time for a number of reasons. The fire department is usually the first to respond to these incidents. Therefore, rescue personnel must always be ready to locate and free victims from collapsed structures in the safest and most efficient way possible. This manual, which addresses the structural collapse portion of NFPA® 1006, Standard for Rescue Technician Professional Qualifications, and the 1999 edition of NFPA® 1670, Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Rescue Incidents, is designed to go beyond the basic rescue skills detailed in the Fire Service Rescue manual to cover those needed by the rescue technician at these types of incidents. Chapters include information on preincident planning and scene assessment, hazard reduction, safety, search techniques, cribbing, shoring, principles of lifting, mechanical advantage systems, lifting and moving techniques, rescue tool use for breaching and cutting, cutting techniques and safety, working with heavy equipment operators at the collapse site, moving victims and caring for them, securing and releasing the scene, and returning to postincident readiness. 36501 IFSTA FireGround Support Operations
This manual replaces the IFSTA Fire Service Ventilation and Forcible Entry manuals and includes valuable information on fire service loss control as it applies to those two disciplines. Written for the advanced firefighter, the tools and techniques discussed in this manual are beyond those discussed in the Essentials of Fire Fighting, 4th edition, and they create an informational bridge to the Company Officer level. In addition to discussions of fire behavior and size-up that are beyond those discussed in Essentials, this manual also discusses the most current ventilation methods and the most effective forcible entry techniques. The manual also uses numerous case histories as a means of stressing firefighter safety and survival on the fireground. These case histories provide examples of how firefighters have been injured or killed because they did not know or follow the principles and practices recommended in this manual. This is the manual on fireground "truck work," whether your department has a ladder truck or not. 1st Edition (2002) 324 pp.

36502 IFSTA Respiratory Protection
This first edition of the IFSTA Respiratory Protection for Fire and Emergency Services manual takes the place of the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (2nd Edition) manual that was specific to the fire service and limited to the use of SCBA. In developing this new manual, the IFSTA material review committee and the editor worked to include all types of respiratory hazards faced by personnel during emergency responses and the appropriate protection that must be worn. The committee recognized that changes in respiratory hazards, technology, regulations, and operational requirements justified a totally new approach to the subject and, therefore, adopted a new format for the manual. The manual is divided into two sections: the first dealing with administrative topics and the second with operational topics. While all of the information is needed for a comprehensive understanding of respiratory protection, the first section may be of greater value to personnel who must deal with selecting, purchasing, and maintaining respiratory protection in addition to facepiece fit testing. The operational section is directed toward the operational use, maintenance, and wearing of respiratory protection, along with emergency scene topics that interest the emergency responder. Fire and emergency services organizations (public or private) must have an established respiratory protection program, including guidelines for use, maintenance, facepiece fit testing, and training. It is the intent of this manual to provide the necessary direction for such organizations in meeting the requirements for a respiratory protection program. 1st Edition (2002) 356 pp.
